History and foundation
The great grandfather of the current owner knew the press in the farmhouse where the Gartziategi cider maker has established itself. According to the documentation, the Gartiziategi cider maker operates as such since the XVI century, and it may possibly be one of the oldest of those currently in operation. It has still got wooden barrels over one hundred years old. This cider maker, with its own apple orchard, supplements its crop with apples from Biscay, Galicia, Asturias or France. It currently produces nearly 100,000 litres of cider per year.
