Barkaiztegi

History and foundation
Situated in the neighbourhood of Martutene in San Sebastian, the Barkaiztegi cider maker started its activity in farmhouse cider production in the XVII century. There are numerous written quotes from this period that make it clear that bottled cider was marketed, although it is not until our times that this traditional cider maker extended its market. Barkaiztegi cider can be now drunk in gastronomic societies, restaurants and outdoor bars in the San Sebastian area. Some of the apples for production come from their own crops, which are supplemented with apples from other areas, Galicia or France. It currently produces nearly 200,000 litres of cider per year.
