The Gipuzkoa Natural Cider Association
The Guipuzcoa Natural Cider Association, created in 1977, currently brings together 51 cider factories, who all produce natural cider. Its basic functions include from defending the interests of its associates with the Administration to promoting their products. Recent years have been particularly important for the sector, as the association has worked on professionalising it and on the quality of the product.
The cider factories included in our association are all very different, including producers of 30,000 litres of cider and producers of more than 1 million litres, and we therefore have to adapt to the needs of each of them (around 8 million litres are produced amongst all the associate producers). To answer all these needs and to promote new initiatives in the cider sector, the Association has moved its head office to Astigarraga, where it has a training lecture room and an area for tastings, seminars, etc.
Amongst the most recent initiatives are: Participating in Spanish fairs, with the aim of make the product known outside the Basque Country, and to improve the product image for the regular drinkers.
